Apiary

Apiary

A bird lives in a cave
and tucks her babies

away into the dark,
this is how they are safe.

Entire bushels of leaves
appear and flutter down

and come apart without
any human eyes noting

their color. A wild bee
and a domesticated bee

are the same, but we think
one of them belongs to us.

Somehow, there are still
secrets left in the earth.

  1. Like this a lot, Hannah, especially the idea of safety in darkness.
