She felt cold; she decided to show it

by Isabel Seliger

She felt cold; she decided to show it

So what she did was shiver
and talk to the night around her
and gradually this became a conversation

Wind in branches is a language she discovered
Well she wasn’t the first to discover this
but it was the first time she herself learned

And her body and the land wondered
how they had lived without one another
for so many years

That night the night air dreamed
and from the small cave of her room
her dreams were branches
