Forest Service

Forest Service

Trees we rob you of your quiet
and then we ask for more of it
I wish I could keep you from danger
I wish you could keep us from danger
Is the dismantling that is essential
to organic matter dangerous
or does it happen only because of
some safety some stilling hand
allowing time to get to us Stranger
what did your parents call you when
they were angry with you We swear
not to call you that unless you’re in
trouble which means not that we are
mad but worried about how love makes
a thing more fragile
