Book of Hours

Book of Hours

This book belongs to
not you, where your name would be
there is another name painted in

Here is a morning prayer
I am here again today
What will today be in moving through it

The day gives itself to you
It is overwhelming

There is light for you into the evening
The world enters your home through the light

All things flip over on themselves

Here is the prayer for sleep
Let my brain circle like a dog
and slump into rest

  1. Some beautiful lines in this, especially "The day gives itself to you / It is overwhelming".

    Love the cut paper work.

  2. What a portrait of a day! I like this a lot, especially, like Maureen, "The day gives itself to you / It is overwhelming," and the prayer-sound of "I am here again today / What will today be in moving through it." That wonderful pooch circling for a snooze at the end . . . he's special too.
