Message in a Landscape

Message in a Landscape

You are small,
your anguish is small,
even while you feel like an overturned oil tanker,
your darkness seeping into the ocean’s fields.

You are small,
these glaciers will outlast your love.

You are small,
but all things in you
and of you will disperse.

  1. i like the scale of this, hannah, especially the first two stanzas. i could have read on and on. you could have abused me with that point and still it would only have been a beginning.

  2. the first stanza is amazing, as erin says, there's something about the scale of the whole poem

  3. Whether or not intended, that first stanza has about it a deep sense of the Spirit; the entire poem seems profoundly reverential.
