It’s Better Not to Think About It

It’s Better Not To Think About It

Every day we are in the breath
of the sun, plants reach up
to be one millimeter closer
to outer space. Light returns,
inalienably. We never ask
for it.

However.

We know what will happen
to the sun when it grows up.
We know where this is
headed.

  1. The part about the plants is pure poetry, and the sunny mood gives way to a grim but deferred ending. Really cool stuff.

  2. Love this line: 'Light returns, / inalienably.' That entire stanza is wonderful, and stands as a poem on its own.
