Moved into the new house--woohoo! From my new favorite writing and reading spot, I'm currently reading and enjoying...
- This lovely essay by Sarah Menkedick (a friend from middle school and high school!), "Writing Like a Mother(f*cker)" at Vela. I have read lots of her writing over the years, but this is my favorite piece of hers so far.
- Rereading Jonathan Safran Foer's Tree of Codes, which led me to...
- This inspiring conversation between Foer and Steven Heller on the making of that book.
- This fascinating article by Nick Ripatrazone, "The Long, Lonely Walk: Hallways in Horror Films." That really is an intriguing trope...I'm planning to share this with my students this semester (we often analyze scenes/elements from movies).
I'm reading 'To Set a Watchman' by Harper Lee. Interesting story. I will say it was to her credit that the publisher lost the manuscript for so many years -- this book would have been forgotten in the shadows of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' fame. An important story, though it doesn't quite create that same feeling of excellence I got when I read Mockingbird.
