Self-Sowing
When this poppy dies,
it will spread itself across the meadow
by turning brittle
and opening to the wind. This clump of poppies
in the corner of the field
itsy-bitsy-spiders itself through the field, along
hill nearby. There are ways
to travel when the body is gone. The husk
can learn to crawl, can find
its way to stalk and petal again, to trustworthy dirt.
So apt. Lovely, Hannah.
