Video: Undertown

(full text of Undertown here.)

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you so much for your comments (always, and this week).

  1. I just love how you have the perfect voice for reading poetry. It must be the Ohio accent (or is it non-accent?).

  2. I love the poem, and the reading of it. As always, I think of "deeper" implications, not only of an undertown, but of the decisions we make; and that the thinking process below them, becomes the undertown, the understory, that is unseen, and has its consequences.

  3. Thank you Hannah, for keeping track of us for us, as you said in the poem, one of my favorites. You're looking so pretty today. The print of the dress reminds me of Pucci.

  4. I recall saying how much I'd like to see this poem reconceived in a video or to hear you read it. So, thank you!

    Have a lovely weekend.

  5. I agree with silverfinofhope, the voice is perfect. The poem no less so.
It reminded me of George Szirtes's "Undersongs". Do you know it? It's included in his METRO collection, but I have it in "The Budapest File". It is an extraordinary collection in which he traces the metamorphoses of the city from the way it was when he was a child to its post communist phase. He speaks in Undersongs of a city beneath a city.
