Sympathy

Sympathy

In the book I was reading it began to snow
and my eye-corner informed me that hey
here too was the start of the snow they’d
been saying would come

Because it was night to see the snow
I’d look for the light One lesson was
the light brought the snow

When I needed a break from the dark I’d
go back to my book With each chapter
more snow

but I didn’t want to stop reading

The poor neighborhood The poor snow
for that matter spending itself so quickly
Like parade confetti it flies for little of its life
so we watch it sympathetically
