Thank you so much for your kin...Diane and Maureen,

Thank you so much for your kind words! I greatly appreciate them. And thank you to Hannah for this opportunity!Shaindelhttp://shaindelbeers.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171487865623213768.post-35087003024637589792013-09-13T15:44:06.984-04:002013-09-13T15:44:06.984-04:00Thanks to you, Hannah, I found "The Children&...Thanks to you, Hannah, I found "The Children's War". WoW! I've already read it twice. How masterly Beers conveys the emotion, with what control she draws her portraits. Some of the lines are absolutely haunting, and unforgettable. And, sadly, those narratives could have been written today, the voices are of children and women found all over the world still.

I think it is no easy task to create empathy among readers, particularly when the story is not your own, when the "I" is not the writer who is seeking to convey truths. Those who manage to move us within the confines of a poem have an uncommon gift for language.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13290283101378474845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171487865623213768.post-39099624249219058192013-09-13T12:31:06.934-04:002013-09-13T12:31:06.934-04:00Thank you, Hannah, for sharing Shaindel's poet...Thank you, Hannah, for sharing Shaindel's poetry and her thoughts on writing. I had come to realize, too, that writing is acting, and inhabiting the characters, maybe because my early background in high school and my first years of college were also drama and acting. I agree, too, that writing is empathy. I appreciate her poems and the video link. Little Amira's poem captures beautifully the feelings of a child and the sense of guilt and responsibility; and Love Poem for the Other Woman is chilling, a story with a subtext of emotion that goes beyond the words. ~ DianeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
